MagicNews (“we”, “us”) helps you learn languages through adapted news stories. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.

1. Who we are

2. Data we collect

  • Account: Sign in with Apple identifier, email (if you share it), display name.
  • Learning profile: languages, level, goals, word familiarity ratings, streaks, study minutes, bookmarks.
  • Content interactions: stories you open, adapted text generated for you, chat/voice practice content you send.
  • Purchases: subscription status via Apple (we do not store your full payment card details).
  • Diagnostics: basic device/app logs needed to fix crashes (when enabled).

3. How we use data

  • Provide and personalize the app (story difficulty, recommendations).
  • Operate AI features (adaptation, explanations, voice tutoring).
  • Process subscriptions and prevent abuse.
  • Meet legal obligations and App Store requirements (including account deletion).

4. Processors / subprocessors

We use trusted providers such as Supabase (auth & database), Apple (Sign in with Apple, In-App Purchase), and AI providers (e.g. xAI / Grok, and historically OpenAI/OpenRouter) to generate learning content. They process data only to provide these services.

5. Retention

We keep account and learning data while your account is active. You may delete your account in the app (Settings → Account → Delete Account). We then delete or anonymize associated MagicNews data within a reasonable period, except where law requires retention.

6. Your rights

Depending on your region (e.g. UK GDPR / EU GDPR / CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or object to certain processing. Email hello@edai.ltd.

7. Children

MagicNews is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). Do not use the app if you are under that age.

8. International transfers

Data may be processed in the UK/EEA and other countries where our providers operate, with appropriate safeguards.

9. Changes

We may update this policy. We will post the new date on this page and, for material changes, provide additional notice in-app when appropriate.
